At the Child Welfare and Adoption Society (CWAS), we believe that every child deserves a safe, loving, and nurturing family environment. Before any child is reunited with their biological family or placed in foster care, one of the most critical steps we take is a comprehensive family assessment — a process that helps ensure the safety and stability of the child’s future home.
This important activity was carried out at Nsambya Babies Home, one of the activity centers under CWAS. At Nsambya, the family assessment process is at the heart of every reunification and foster care plan. It allows our social workers to carefully evaluate each family’s capacity to provide care, protection, and emotional support. It also helps us understand the family’s dynamics, strengths, and areas that may need improvement before the child returns home.

Our dedicated social workers walk closely with families throughout this journey. They help set realistic and meaningful goals — from strengthening parenting skills to improving communication and addressing potential child protection risks. These efforts aim to create a supportive environment where the child can not only return home but also grow, thrive, and feel truly secure.
Family assessment is more than an administrative step; it is a commitment to child safety and well-being. By ensuring that every home is ready and capable, we uphold CWAS’s mission 'to save, care, groom children into responsible adults and sensitise the public about the dangers of child neglect/abandonment'.
Through this careful, compassionate approach, Nsambya Babies Home continues to play a vital role in rebuilding families and restoring hope, one child at a time.
